Recipe of turnip greens cream

Hi there, how are you?

Today I will present you a cream of turnip greens I did today for my father to help him with his lunch digest. My father has much weight and just do crazy things with his meals I decided to make him a nice cream of turnip greens to help cleanning his body and to facilitate digestion.

Ingredients of turnip green cream for two people :
300 grams of turnip
1 teaspoon brown rice flour
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 clove garlic
1 bit salt
semi-skimmed milk
1 bay leaf

Development of the recipe :

First clean thoroughly with water the leaves of turnip greens, let the water boil with a bit of salt, add the turnip greens and let them cook for 10 minutes. Take off the turnip greens for further grinding with the magic wand. In case it gets too consistent add a little milk to ease the crunch.

While the gringing of the turnip is done, we start frying lightly the garlic clove in the fryer (slightly deep) and when the garlic is cooked add the mashed turnip greens. We engage the garlic with the turnip greens with a wooden spoon and then add a tablespoon of brown rice flour. Let the flour cook a little, if it gets too thick add a little milk, and at the end the cream is a delight .

I leave just a note that the kind of flour depends on the peoples taste or want. I chose this because it is full of nutrients, because it was the healthier I had at home. Normally, I also add up to one or two whole eggs after adding the mashed turnip greens in the fryer, but as my father is overweight I didn't add the eggs because he is already consuming too much protein on his plate .

Try and hope you enjoy it, the most annoying part is the washing of turnip greens but everything else is appetizing tasting the cream till its done.

Vegetables help on digestion

While my father is reaching 100 kgs and because he is at an advanced age, he is giving me the opportunity of helping him to eat better. With "better" I mean having more meals, balanced meals with a more variety of foods. Right now I'm including vegetables everyday in main meals in order to facilitate my father's digestion. When my father is eating I notice he makes a big effort to eat and it made me understand that his effort is less when he eats vegetables.

In my point of view, the vegetables are the main group that cleans the body and helps the digestion, and facilitates the assimilation of food. If the person avoids vegetables on the main meals the person can have serious health problems and excess of weight will be just one of them. The main feature of the vegetables are their high content in fiber which are not only responsible for helping digestion but also the feeling of fullness that avoid person of eating more food. So if you need to lose weight, it is best to eat vegetables before the dish of proteins and carbohydrates so you feel less hungry when it's time to eat to eat the "dangerous" foods.

Finally, it doesn't matter if you want to lose or gain weight you should always eat vegetables. Not only for the fiber it contains but also for the necessary vitamins for the proper body functioning and its immunity.

How to choose an avocato

This beautiful fruit, the avocado, is being a problem to get it in good condition to be consumed here in Portugal by now. Or it is very mature with black spots or it is still very green. To choose the avocato, I buy the avocado green without being creased and is stored somewhere it will be protected so it doesn't become creased. With each passing day it will become dark and softer, and I'll groping it every day to feel its state of maturity, less hard . Until that day comes till we feel the avocado is good enough to be opened.

However, it is not alway in good condition when we open it. Sometimes it is not all in good state and ready to eat. Often the avocado does not ripen evenly and there are times when the avocato has some dark and damaged areas because it has been hit during storage and so it isn't completely green has it should be. Here in Portugal, we are getting avocados import from Peru right now, and it has been very difficult to find avocados in good condition to consume.
